Another month has flown by, and we are closer and closer to autumn which to me is the perfect time for hygge. Its a time to snuggle up inside, and I already feel the urge to buy soft and cozy knitted jumpers to wrap myself up in.. I love seeing all your great moments popping up in the #thatscandinavianfeeling feed, this month there have been lot of lovely landscape views, natural elements from nature as well as lovely moments at home. The images perfectly portray a warm and welcoming end-of-summer feeling, that Nordic coziness that brings a smile to your face and brighten the day.

For me That Scandinavian Feeling is about the little things in life, those moments that just makes your day go from ok to great. My favourite times of the day is breakfast, and I always spend a bit of extra time preparing and creating a lovely atmosphere before I eat. That sets me off in a great mood for the rest of the day, and helps me stay focused. This month I’ve been focusing on adding little personal elements to my home to make it more cozy, little details like photos and decorative items reminding me of where I’m from and memories shared with loved ones. I enjoy creating my own little Scandinavian nest here in Italy, because when I’m in my flat it makes me feel like I am back home in Norway..

I have selected 4 of the images from Instagram to share with you, as well as a little quote from each about what That Scandinavian Feeling means to them. If you want to see more of their photos just click on the name to go to their profile;

2 // @karibecks
“I’m very inspired by Scandinavian design and like simple style and clean lines. A modern Scandinavian style with elements of black, white and natural describe my style well, this image is an example of that.”

3 // @thisishomebnb
”If I think of Scandinavia, I always imagine a long and cold winter and a family staying inside around a fireplace in a warm and cozy atmosphere. The Scandinavian feeling I love and the look for my bed&breakfast is a mix of little details – such as a slice of banana bread and a cup of tea – that make you feel relaxed and welcomed. Beauty is in the little things of everyday life and Scandinavians knows that best.”

4 // @ingvildmusikk
“To me the Scandinavian feeling is about soft colours, clean lines and nature. I love to mix wood, plants and ceramics. By putting new and old design together I try to create a feeling of timelessness.”

What is that Scandinavian feeling? To me it is a lot of things but at the same time hard to explain and I guess that’s why it is so fascinating and deep in my heart. I have now lived away from Scandinavia for over 7 years, but for some reason the feeling is stronger than ever. It is not about location or origin but simply a mix of cosiness & calm. It is a warm atmosphere that invites you in and makes you feel welcome, but at the same time a cool freshness that hits you like a winter breeze. It is wrapping yourself up in a nice comfy blanket with a hot drink and a cinnamon bun. It is simplicity and minimalism, focusing on the little things in life. It is wooden houses, reindeers, knitted jumpers, fjords & mountains..

So what does that Scandinavian feeling mean to you? Whether you are from Scandinavia or just have a nordic state of mind I’d love to see what you think. To join in and share what gives you that Scandinavian feeling just add the hashtag #thatscandinavianfeeling to your images on Instagram and start browsing. Can’t wait to see!

I will be collecting some images I find each month which to me shows of that perfect Scandinavian feeling and sharing them here. Hopefully it can be a way to inspire each other and discover new accounts or brands and spread hygge all around! To start it off I though I would share a selection of my images to set the mood;
