SAVOURING THE LAST OF AUTUMN

scandinavian_feeling_images_hygge_winter_6

Another month has gone by and days are getting darker and colder as we speak. November has been a very cozy month, and we have seen many lovely moments shared on the Instagram feed (in-fact we have now passed over 500 images!) For me November has been all about savouring the last of autumn as well as greeting winter. I’ve packed down my summer clothes and changed them with warm winter clothes, scarfs, hats and gloves to be prepared for what’s in store.. For me the Christmas decorations are not put out until December starts, but I have been out purchasing some new items which I am very excited to start incorporating into my home. Oh, and I have been lighting candles pretty much every evening (as well as a couple of grey days when I needed a bit of an extra pick-me-up.)

I have selected 4 of the November images from Instagram to share with you, as well as a little quote from each about what That Scandinavian Feeling is to them. If you haven’t already had a look, be sure to check out the beautiful #thatscandinavianfeeling feed where all the hygge is happening! I’m especially looking forward to see what festive images will pop up now as we are heading into December. Just click on the hashtag below and it will take you to the feed;

“To me, That Scandinavian Feeling is enjoying the little things and being cozy and snug inside when it’s so cold and dark outside. A new knitting project and a cup of tea goes a long way!”

“For me when that first snow comes it triggers the Christmas feeling. Living in Finland snow is a must at Christmas (otherwise it doesn’t feel like Christmas.. Yes we have had Christmases without snow too but definitely something missing then!) Winter is a long season in Finland and snow lightens everything up! It’s fun to play in the snow, making snow-angels, riding the sledge… Winter-sports are not really my thing but I love long walks in the neighbourhood on a crispy winter day. I also love the hygge effect snow gives when you are cozy indoors with the fireplace on and a lot of candles lit + warm chocolate and/or coffee is a must too! It snowed here a little last night so now the snow is back again. Really hope we will get some more and it stays until Christmas!”

“For me That Scandinavian Feeling definitely means chunky layers and lots of them! It’s about being relaxed and comfortable whilst embracing the less is more lifestyle – only wearing and surrounding yourself with things and people that are special to you!”

COZY AUTUMN MOMENTS OF JOY

scandinavian_feeling_images_hygge_autumn_5

So autumn is in full swing, and I love seeing all the cozy moments shared this month over on Instagram. For me October has been all about getting out my lovely knitted jumpers and socks, finally having the chance to light candles in the evening as well as enjoying multiple cups of hot drinks! This period is so nice, its not too cold yet (well, at least not here in Italy) but still cold enough to start appreciating those little moments of joy. Christmas is still a while away, so for now lets enjoy the beautiful autumnal colours in nature, the softness of knits & our favourite fabrics, staying in and decorating our home.

I have selected 4 of the images from Instagram to share with you here on the blog, as well as a little quote from each about what That Scandinavian Feeling means to them. And if you haven’t already had a look, be sure to check out the beautiful #thatscandinavianfeeling feed where all the hygge is happening :-)

“That Skandinavian Feeling for me is to be able to snuggle up in large hand-knitted woolen socks with a good cup of coffee in my hand, especially if I can see the snow or cold taking its toll on the outside of the window. That is the perfect feeling after a day when the fresh Norwegian air has whispered on your cheeks.”

“To me, That Scandinavian Feeling is about enjoying the little luxuries in life – lighting a beautifully scented candle, curling up under a blanket or near the fireplace to read, being surrounded by nature on a hike, time spent in the garden, or even a lazy morning testing out some recipes in the kitchen and sitting down to a slower meal than usual. I think it involves a calm peacefulness that comes from living in the moment. It is natural, lovely, and fresh.”

END-OF-SUMMER HYGGE FEELING

scandinavian_feeling_images_hygge_3

Another month has flown by, and we are closer and closer to autumn which to me is the perfect time for hygge. Its a time to snuggle up inside, and I already feel the urge to buy soft and cozy knitted jumpers to wrap myself up in.. I love seeing all your great moments popping up in the #thatscandinavianfeeling feed, this month there have been lot of lovely landscape views, natural elements from nature as well as lovely moments at home. The images perfectly portray a warm and welcoming end-of-summer feeling, that Nordic coziness that brings a smile to your face and brighten the day.

For me That Scandinavian Feeling is about the little things in life, those moments that just makes your day go from ok to great. My favourite times of the day is breakfast, and I always spend a bit of extra time preparing and creating a lovely atmosphere before I eat. That sets me off in a great mood for the rest of the day, and helps me stay focused. This month I’ve been focusing on adding little personal elements to my home to make it more cozy, little details like photos and decorative items reminding me of where I’m from and memories shared with loved ones. I enjoy creating my own little Scandinavian nest here in Italy, because when I’m in my flat it makes me feel like I am back home in Norway..

I have selected 4 of the images from Instagram to share with you, as well as a little quote from each about what That Scandinavian Feeling means to them. If you want to see more of their photos just click on the name to go to their profile;
