GIFT IDEAS FOR THE HYGGE LOVER & HOMEBODY

Last year I did a gift guide for the Scandinavian design lover in your life, so this year I decided to focus on hygge related items. I know hygge is a feeling that cannot be bought, but sometimes little thoughtful items like these can bring a smile on someone’s face whether that is for Christmas or any other occasion.

Here are a few things I know I would appreciate receiving. I hope it will help you to make this period less stressful so you can focus on making memories instead of running around shopping:

What about something you can enjoy together as a group of friends or family? The Hygge Game is all about bringing people together, sharing stories and discussing the big and small things in life. This game has more than 300 entertaining, interesting and thoughtful questions designed to spark cozy conversation, and create the right atmosphere for an ultimate hygge evening whether that is a night in, a party or a dinner.

These gorgeous notecards by Kinfolk are a great as little gifts. The Hygge Edition embodies the comforting tradition of hygge, and truly is the gift that keeps on giving as it can be used to spread love even after the present has been recieved. Packaged in a minimalist art board box, it includes twelve A2 folding cards with blank interiors, full-color cover photography and twelve blank envelopes. Also available is the Balance Edition and the Weekend Edition.

As a homebody and hygge lover one can never have too many candles. As a matter of fact, if you are unsure about what to give someone, a candle is always a great idea because it is useful. These tall, elegant candles available from Hygge Life are imprinted with the famous Royal Copenhagen tableware design with eco-friendly ink. Available in three colours: red, black and classic blue.

If you have a friend that needs cheering up, a loved one who is feeling a bit under the weather or someone who just moved into a new home, this personalised cosy gift box from Etsy is great to send straight to the recipient and brighten their day. Each box is delivered sealed with a band printed with a beautiful white furry design (the kind of material the best blankets are made from) with let’s stay home in the middle. Inside you will find a list of everything included and a suggestion to ‘light a candle, snuggle in a blanket, spend time with loved ones and enjoy the simple things in life’. Perfect!

Who doesn’t love a Hygge scented room diffuser? This one from Skandinavisk available from Skandium has echoes of brewed tea and baked strawberry cake, rose petals and wild mint. It will scent a room for at least 3 months and creates cosiness in the smallest everyday moments.

I love this cute pillow with the print ‘Hyggekrog; a nook to snuggle in, get comfy, and relax’ on. Bring the hygge feeling in someones home with this snuggly Hygge quote cushion. The faux suede finish means this cushion feels luxurious to touch and lovely to snuggle next to.

If the person you are buying a gift for loves tea, then any of the delcious blends from Hoogly Tea is perfect! What about Danish Pastry loose leaf tea? With a wonderfully warming chocolate and cinnamon aroma and a subtly delicious pastry taste, this healthy indulgence will seduce tea lovers over and over.

These cheeky, comfy cashmere-wool blend socks are great gift ideas for everyone. Perfect for lounging and remind your partner or lounge-mates to bring you the perfect ingredient for cozy, hygge-inspire moments with your friends or family: wine! Made by QineThree for Hygge North and available in three different colours: navy, black or grey.

A great little reminder of the importance of enjoying life’s simple pleasures: a adorable vintage spoon with ‘hygge’ engraved in the middle available from Etsy. So everytime your friend has a coffee or tea, they will thing of hygge. Each piece is hand stamped one letter at a time, and the silverware itself is vintage silver-plate.

Got a friend who enjoys the slow life? This sloth-shaped mug from Urban Outfitters will be a great little companion and always bring a smile on their face. Just look at his face! I think I need one :-)

A little, thoughtful and useful gift is this sheet of calendar stickers from Grand Stories Design – for the one who loves Hygge. The sheet includes 70 stickers. Use these to mark special days, focus on what is important and let them inspire to bring a little more hygge to your everyday. Can be used in a calendar or even to decorate a card tou are giving to your friend.

For a homebody like me, a great idea (and something the person might not already have) is a guestbook. Everything that takes place in your home – every party and casual coffees with a dear friend – each leave their mark. This guestbook from ferm LIVING makes cherished memories of all of it that stay long after the party is over. It features 192 pages of high-quality paper, a silk ribbon, and original artwork with gold foil on the fabric hardcover.

And speaking of books… Below you can find a selection of hygge related books that will also make great gifts:
