WARM NORDIC PAYS HOMAGE TO HANS OLSEN WITH ANNIVERSARY COLLECTION

This year, Warm Nordic pays homage to the acknowledged architect Hans Olsen to mark what would have been his 100th birthday with the launch of an exclusive, warm-hearted, and elegant anniversary collection.

Hans Olsen made his own special mark on the Danish Modernism of the 1950s with his consummately designed, characterful furniture. Today, several of his design classics are collector icons and sell for high prices at international auctions. His design legacy is a testament to the admirable philosophy that comfort, functionality, and aesthetic can coexist, and a shining example of how he and other talented architects and designers from the 50s experimented their way to the globally acclaimed Nordic furniture design expression.

The anniversary collection offers three original Hans Olsen designs: the Fried Egg, Gesture Chair, and Mr. Olsen – produced with FSC-certified wood, sustainable textiles from Kvadrat, and carefully selected colours with a light and modern expression. I am drawn to the pastel shades and vintage look of these items which ar just as current today as they were 100 years ago. What do you think?

The iconic Fried Egg is now available in a new sustainable version. The unique asymmetrical lounge chair designed in 1956, is the perfect item to add a bit of edginess to any design lovers homes. This roomy, comfortable chair was christened ‘Fried Egg’ because that is exactly what it looks like when viewed from above!

The new editions of the Fried Egg is available in two beautiful options, both of which add an extra sensuousness to the Fried Egg chair by combining three different colours on the inside, outside, and on the cushion. The fabrics are a combination of Hero and sustainable textiles, Re-wool and Merit by Maharam, in colours with a modern and light expression.

The anniversary edition of the stunning moulded Gesture Chair is constructed of black lacquered beech with leather upholstery on the back and a sustainable fabric from Kvadrat on the seat. The fabric, Merit by Maharam, is available in four exclusively selected colours with a modern lightness. The back and seat are made of FSC-certified wood on the anniversary edition of the chair.

The anniversary edition of the Mr. Olsen sofa and lounge chair have an elegant expression in with textile from Kvadrat – Re-wool – which excel in sustainability, sensuosity and quality. The frame on the anniversary sofa and lounge chair are constructed of FSC-certified wood.

Warm Nordic is a Danish design brand, which cultivates Nordic sensuousness and authenticity across the ages. Rooted in the impressive Scandinavian design history of the 1950s and 1960s, Warm Nordic bridges the gap between past and present, and between tradition and innovation. You cannot always tell whether a design from the 1950s was created today, or whether a design from today was created in the 1950s. That is always the case with timeless design, which never loses its aesthetic value. Original design classics from the 50s and 60s are brought to life in an integrated universe, which also features new designs that embrace the warm Nordic aesthetic and traditional Nordic craftsmanship.
